BEST Complex has executed a planned
upgrade and improvement plan at their Beaumont,
Texas facility. As a result the material condition
of the 70-acre emergency services training complex
operated by Industrial Safety Training Council
will be in top-notch mechanical order.
These upgrades and improvements are based on customer
input and identified training needs which will
contribute to the experience of the student while
training at the Complex.
Some specific upgrades and improvements include:
▫ New fire water headers at projects
▫ Replacement of old fuel and firewater lines
▫ New Fuel meters at all projects
▫ Two new classroom buildings allowing for four new classrooms
▫ Two new bunker gear change rooms
▫ New roofs to several Hurricane Rita damaged buildings
▫ Re-skinning of the maintenance shop and a new roof
▫ Improvements to the Piperack, Pump Seal 1, and Process Unit burn projects.
▫ Additional cooling water installations to burn projects to preserve project
life.
▫ New LPG Christmas Tree prop
▫ Eight existing buildings re-painted
▫ Improvements and repairs to sidewalks and approaches to various buildings.
▫ Three new student shelter areas
▫ Student shelters painted
▫ Chalkboards at various shelters replaced |
One of the hallmarks of the period has been the
construction of an entirely new burn project at
the field called the Loading Terminal Project.
This prop is designed to simulate incidents that
could occur while loading or unloading transportation
vehicles.
Fires and spills can include, ground and or fuel
in-depth spills, elevated horizontal and vertical
storage vessels, overfills, line and or flange
leaks or separations.
