20 Hour Basic Rope Rescue

Overview
This course is a basic rope rescue skills training program. The course teaches the skills to safely and effectively perform basic technical rescues in industrial and municipal environments. The scope of this course is limited to those standards, laws, and regulations that apply to the Rope Rescue discipline and serves to establish the foundation necessary for additional levels of training. This course meets the awareness and operations level requirements of NFPA 1670, Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents, Chapter 4.

NFPA 1983, Standard on Fire Service Life Safety Rope & System Components, and NFPA 1006, Standard for Rescue Technician Professional Qualifications, are referenced in this course, however, the functions that the member will be expected to perform in the workplace are site-specific and will vary from facility to facility and from company to company.

Rope Rescue is the basis for all technical rescues where the patient is at a different level than the rescuer. The patient or the rescuer needs to be moved up or down, past obstructions. This is made possible by use of rope rescue techniques.
