Continuing to build on the techniques learned during the LPG and Flat Pit projects, we add still another element of concern which the student might encounter in an industrial setting. Pressurized hydrocarbon liquid released from elevated vessels, piping or flanges adds a three dimensional effect to the fire which calls for a new approach to capture and control.

In addition to applying the techniques learned for controlling pressurized vapor and ground spill fires, the student will be taught techniques for capture and control of a hydrocarbon liquid released under pressure to provide safe access to isolation valves.

Additionally, special attention to teaching the importance of cooling to prevent structural, piping or vessel collapse will begin with this project and be a part of the remaining project evolutions. This particular project is representative of many typical industrial piping and structural configurations.
